In the spotlight this time is a Main d'Or from the 1980s with a Shimano 105 Golden Arrow group. Main d'Or was the trademark of the Ostend bicycle maker Fernand Kessels who also made the frames for Eddy Merckx, among others. You can find more about the collaboration between Kessels and Eddy Merckx in the article Fernand Kessels and Eddy Merckx.

This racing bike is not of the quality of the ones that Kessels made for the cannibal, but it can still be seen. The frame is built from Ishiwata EX tubes and not Reynolds or Columbus tubes that were used for the more expensive and better frames.

The group on it is Shimano 105 Golden Arrow, just like the Arabesque group decorated with figures.
This group was marketed between 1983 and 1986 by Shimano to release a cheaper group than the 600 that could be used by the sporty non-professional cyclist.

The Golden Arrow was the first version of the popular and still commercially available Shimano 105 groupset.

Originally there were Weinmann brake levers à la francaise on the bike, but these have been replaced. The Danilo Di Lucca saddle was also too modern for the 1980s and replaced by a contemporary saddle.
